Community Event Highlights Nearly 50 Years of Local Senior Services

ASTORIA, OR – Clatsop Care Center Health District invites the community to discover comprehensive senior care options at a special Community & Care Event on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Clatsop Care Retirement Village, located at 947 Olney Avenue in Astoria, OR 97103. The event will showcase the full continuum of care available through this unique, community-built system that has served local seniors for nearly five decades. Attendees will learn about the district’s history and explore how Clatsop Care provides a locally-governed alternative to privatized senior care providers.

Services to be highlighted include:

  • Clatsop Care Health & Rehabilitation – Skilled nursing facility
  • In-Home Services – Support for aging in place
  • Clatsop Care Retirement Village – Assisted living facility
  • Memory Care – Specialized dementia and Alzheimer’s care
  • Respite Care – Temporary relief for family caregivers
  • Hospice – End-of-life care and support

“This is an exclusive opportunity for families to see all their options under one roof,” said Ann Rubio, Administrator at Clatsop Care Retirement Village. “Our single-system approach means seniors and their families can access a complete range of services as needs change over time, all within a community-built organization dedicated to local care.” The event will feature a brief presentation on the district’s history, informational sessions about each service, and opportunities to tour the Retirement Village facility. Refreshments will be provided. Clatsop Care Center Health District was established by the community almost 50 years ago to ensure quality senior care options remained accessible and locally controlled. Today, it continues to serve as a comprehensive resource for aging residents throughout the region. The event is free and open to the public.
