Clatsop Care Center Health District Successfully Concludes Financial Audit by Moss Adams
Astoria, Oregon – January 3, 2024
The Clatsop Care Center Health District, a Special Health District regulated by the State of Oregon, is pleased to announce the successful completion of its financial audit by Moss Adams on December 7, 2023. The comprehensive audit, led by Marcy Boyd, Partner and Long-Term Care Practice Group Leader at Moss Adams, a renowned CPA firm, aimed to ensure transparency and accountability in Clatsop Care’s financial operations. As a vital component of our commitment to the community, Clatsop Care undergoes regular third-party audits, reporting the findings to the public. According to Marcy Boyd, “We are delighted to share that the recent audit revealed no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies, highlighting the district’s dedication to sound financial management during challenging times.”
The audit period coincided with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, a critical staff shortage in the healthcare industry, and a notable increase in the cost of goods and wages. Despite these challenges, Clatsop Care demonstrated resilience. In addition, receivables remained stable, showcasing prudent financial practices. Clatsop Care excelled in controlling expenses, exhibiting only slight variations. This commendable effort was crucial in maintaining financial stability and ensuring that resources were allocated efficiently during a period of economic uncertainty.
Founded over 43 years ago by the community for the community, Clatsop Care has been a cornerstone in providing essential services and housing options for the growing aging population. Our services include skilled nursing, short and long-term rehabilitation, in-home care, assisted living, and memory care for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. The community’s foresight in establishing Clatsop Care was to address the needs of their loved ones, ensuring they receive quality care without having to leave the area for basic services or travel to larger cities like Portland, Longview, or Seattle. Mark Remley, CEO of Clatsop Care stated, “Clatsop Care is deeply grateful for the ongoing support of the community.
